Latinx Choral Project
Building Community through Music
In 2023, Resonance Ensemble partnered with Portland Public Schools to help build a PPS Latinx Affinity Choir—a groundbreaking effort to provide space where young singers could see leadership that looks like them, experience art that feels like them, and simply be themselves.
We’re excited to announce that Phase 2 of this project is underway for the 2024-25 school year, and we are looking for singers from across the district to join us!
Co-led by the PPS Visual and Performing Arts Department, Resonance Ensemble, and Lynn Mendoza-Khan (a Resonance Ensemble member), this project continues with the goal of creating a space for Latino/a/x students to build community through music. Resonance Ensemble will also provide professional mentor singers to guide and support the student vocalists throughout the process.
If you’d like to learn more or become part of the choir, please fill out our interest form.

“Now that this group is formed, how many other singers are out there seeking what this choir offers - which is community in the arts through a Latino lens?”
