AROUND THE REQUIEM
Sunday, May 21, 2023 | 4:00 PM
New Expressive Works (N.E.W.)
Join us for this behind-the-scenes conversation filmed at The Winningstad Theatre in May 2022 — just two days before the world premiere of An African American Requiem — featuring artists from this major work.
A night of community and reflection, Around the Requiem receives its world premiere screening. The film centers on an intimate conversation moderated by Dr. S. Renee Mitchell with An African American Requiem artists and creative team members, including soloists Brandie Inez Sutton, Karmesha Peake, Bernard Holcombe, and Kenneth Overton, chorus member Onry, as well as conductor Bill Eddins and composer Damien Geter.
A true Portland-grown project, this free-to-attend event will include an opening reception, and a post-screening panel discussion with composer Damien Geter, Resonance Ensemble Artistic Director Dr. Katherine FitzGibbon, the author of the foreward to the Requiem A. Mimi Sei, and more.
Attendance is free, but registration is required.
Our season is generously sponsored by Ronni Lacroute, the Nguyen family, Oregon Community Foundation, and The Dinah Dodds Fund for the Creation of New Art
