Fahad Siadat's SAMĀ draws inspiration from the Sufi practice of Sama (“listening”), a form of Dhikr (“holy remembrance”). In this ritual-like experience, droning vocal soundscapes and geometric light projections will help two dancers ascend past the point of exhaustion into an ecstatic trance.

A celebration of rebirth and renewal, from the much-loved “Spring” from Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons, to the world premiere of Rhian Samuel’s Gwanwyn (the Welsh word for spring), commissioned by PBO in response to Vivaldi’s interpretation of the season.
We also explore Bach’s Harpsichord Concerto in G Minor, a ‘rebirth’ of one of his earlier works where the organic interplay of soloist and orchestra captures the nature of springtime.

Requiem for the Forgotten by Frank La Rocca for choir, organ, and strings commemorates the displaced and the homeless, championing the inherent dignity of every person.
The program opens with the a cappella Mass for Double Choir by Josef Rheinberger (1839–1901), who dedicated it to Leo XIII, a pope known for his advocacy for social justice.
Requiem for the Forgotten appears on the Cappella Records recording by Benedict XVI Ensemble, led by the esteemed Richard Sparks, who will also direct Cappella Romana in these concerts, with 45th Parallel Universe.
